Much of the accommodation on Anna Maria Island, are Anna Maria Rentals, so it’s good to know some great local grocery stores to stock up on fresh foods and cupboard goods that you’ll need for your stay.

• Publix – always open, always fresh stuff, and some organic!

• Anna Maria General Store – find fresh Starbucks coffee, deli-goods, including salads, and sandwiches hot and cold, delicious home made cakes and cookies. The biggest chiller cabinet on the Island with a fantastic selection of soft drinks and local craft beers and wine and everything you need for the store cupboard at the local General Store on Pine Avenue is as local as you can get. Outlet Shopping

• The best shopping mall is about 30 minutes from Anna Maria Sialdn the Westfield Mall at 3501 South Tamiami Trail, Sarasota, Tel +1 941 955 0900 – Pottery Barn, Gap, Talbots, Macey’s, Sak’s 5th Avenue, Victoria’s Secret, Banana Republic etc. There is also a larger Westfield if you go another 10 miles south on the same road.

• The best outlet mall is at Ellenton – 5461 Factory Shops Boulevard, Ellenton, Tel 723 1150, Great for children’s clothes. About 40 minutes from here, going east.

• St Armands Circle – upscale shopping on a circle on the road south to Sarasota. About 17 miles or 30 minutes away. Great place, lovely shops and restaurants


Local Markets

• The famous Bridge Street Market that runs from November to April, offers a wonderful array of fresh product, plants, original art, jewellery, beach and shell items and lots more. There is always great music and great food to enjoy too!
